Virat Kohli is one of the richest cricketers in the world right now, with a net worth of over Rs 1000 crore. Just a day ago, Kohli earning Rs 11.45 crore via Instagram posts went viral. But the former India captain issued a clarification on Saturday morning (August 12) that those reports are not at all true.

Kohli’s name could be found on the list of 2023 Instagram Rich List. In the list, he was the only India in the top 25 list and also the third richest athlete overall. But Kohli took to Twitter and rubbished such reports saying that although he is grateful for all the comforts in life, the reports of his Instagram earnings are false. 

While I am grateful and indebted to all that I’ve received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true,” Kohli wrote on Twitter.

How Virat Kohli earns money?

Virat Kohli is the third-most followed celebrities on Instagram and undoubtedly, he is one of the richest athletes in the world right now. Apart from his income through a central contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kohli earns a great deal through endorsing brands like MRF Tyres, Myntra, Manyavar, Too Yumm, etc.

BCCI pays Rs 15 lakh for every Test match, six lahks for every ODI, and three lakh per T20I. Kohli also co-owns FC Goa of the Indian Super League (ISL) and runs various businesses like restaurants (One 8 Commune) and clothing brands (WROGN).

Kohli is currently out of action as the management deemed it best to give him rest before he joins Team India for the Asia Cup. After the continental tournament, Rohit Sharma and Company will kick start their ODI World Cup campaign on October 8.
