The Indian Premier League is considered the best and the worst thing that happened to Indian cricket for different reasons. One of the reasons is that fans acknowledge themselves as Rohit Sharma fans, Virat Kohli fans, and MS Dhoni fans.

During a drunk debate over who is the best cricketer, a Royal Challengers Bangalore and Virat Kohli fan killed a Rohit Sharma fan who supported Mumbai Indians. The accused has been arrested by the police on Thursday.

Fans are an integral part of any sporting event. They fill the stadiums with roaring support, colours and fun. Some wear dresses according to the teams they support, paint their bodies, and even sing songs that bring goosebumps.

But some can go to an extreme level to prove how much they support. Needless to say, cricketers face vicious trolls on social media when they or their teams fail to make much impact. Fans create a pressurized environment too for the cricketers.

Dharamraj was a Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore supporter, while Vignesh supported Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma. They were debating over who is the best player in an open area near SIDCO Industrial Estate, near Mallur, on Tuesday night.

“Both had consumed liquor. As per the initial investigation, Vignesh was supporting Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while Dharmaraj was a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) supporter,” police said.

“During the course of their debate, Vignesh had allegedly mocked RCB and Virat Kohli. Vignesh had the habit of body shaming Dharmaraj, who was a stammerer. On that day he had made some remarks comparing the RCB team to the speaking difficulty of Dharmaraj. This infuriated Dharmaraj who attacked Vignesh with a bottle and later hit him with a cricket bat on the head. Dharmaraj soon fled the spot,” officials said.
