Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has been fined 10 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct when the team played against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday (April 17) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru,” the IPL said in a statement.
“Mr. Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct,” it added.
Though the statement did not mention due to which incident Kohli was fined, it must have come from his celebration after Shivam Dube‘s wicket. Dube had played a blazing knock of 52 runs from 27 balls and a delivery from Wayne Parnell with a catch by Mohammed Siraj ended it. The hosts faced an eight-run defeat against the MS Dhoni-led side after failing to chase 227.
Virat Kohli had a poor outing against CSK

In that match, Virat Kohli was bowled out by Akash Singh in the first over itself. All he could score was six runs from four balls with a boundary.
Despite’s Kohli’s flop show with the bat, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell kept alive RCB’s hopes of winning the match. Both scored their respective half-centuries.
While du Plessis took 33 balls to score 62 runs, Maxwell was the high scorer for RCB with 76 runs from 36 balls. But after their dismissals, other batters couldn’t do much and took them to 218, and eventually lost the match.
