As India were asked to bat first in the much-awaited T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final clash, England restricted the Men in Blue to just 168/6. India were tethering at first, but Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya played careful knocks to stabilize the innings. When opener KL Rahul departed in the second over to invite Kohli to the crease, the latter smashed a spectacular over the covers to release some pressure.
This happened on the first ball of the fourth over off Chris Woakes when Kohli, who usually doesn’t play this shot, smashed the ball over the covers for a spectacular six. Check the video below:
Meanwhile, India have put on just 168/6 with the help of Kohli’s 50 and Pandya’s cameo. Despite a sluggish start by KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, also Suryakumar Yadav‘s early dismissal, Kohli and Pandya stitched a partnership to drive the team to a decent total.
Virat Kohli creates a new milestone

Virat Kohli scored 50 runs off 40 balls, with four boundaries and a six before he gave away his wicket to Chris Jordan. Kohli also crossed the 4000-run mark in the T20I cricket, becoming the first batter to do so.
After Kohli’s dismissal, Pandya started smashing the ball toward the boundary ropes. He also ended up scoring his half-century off 29 balls and, went on to score 63 runs off 33 balls with four boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 190.91. Jordan was included in this match for the first time in this T20 World Cup, and he scalped three important wickets- Rohit Sharma, Kohli, and Hardik Pandya.
Right now, as England are chasing, openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales are still at the crease, both scoring 55 off 35 and 80 off 41 balls, respectively. They have reached 139 in 14 overs without losing any wickets.
