Recently, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma announced the birth of their son, Akaay Kohli. The child was reportedly born in the United Kingdom, with many reports stating that they gave birth there to get privacy. If Akaay is born in the UK, will the baby get Indian citizenship or British citizenship?

Vamika, Kohli’s first daughter, was born in Mumbai, with Kohli even leaving the 2020/21 tour of Australia midway due to covid restrictions. Now the cricketer has also taken a leave from the ongoing Test series with England so that he could be there for the birth of his son in London.

Despite being born in the UK, Akaay Kohli will be an Indian citizen. The United Kingdom offers citizenship based on blood. As his parents are Indian citizens, he will also be an Indian citizen. If he was born in a nation like the United States of America, he would have an American citizenship as they give it based on location.

Vikram Rathour backs Virat Kohli’s replacement despite poor run

With Virat Kohli out, India has played two batters in place of the Indian star. KL Rahul played the first two Tests at number four, while Rajat Patidar played in the position during the 3rd Test. With KL Rahul out, Patidar will be retaining the spot for the remaining two Tests.

Unfortunately, the batter has not shown anything special so far. In the four innings he has played, he has scored only 46 runs, with an average of 11.5. Defending the rookie, Indian batting coach Vikram Rathour said Patidar will soon have an impactful innings.

If KL Rahul comes back, if Virat Kohli comes back...We don't know when that is going to happen. We have been having a lot of conversations with him [Patidar]. One thing he has to understand is that this is how this game works. He has been batting really well and scoring a lot of runs to get into the team. Two poor games don't make him a bad player. He just had two tough games, a couple of awkward dismissals, which can happen to anyone. There is absolutely no doubt that he is a good player. On his day, he will come up with an impactful innings.

India lead the series 2-1, winning the 2nd and 3rd Tests. Patidar made his debut in the 2nd Test, scoring 32 on debut. Since then, he has been dismissed for single-digit scores. In the ongoing 4th Test in Ranchi, England are batting first, but lost three wickets to debutant Akash Deep.
