Former India opener Virender Sehwag did not mince his words while taking a dig at Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Sam Curran for his not-so-impressive performance on a consistent basis in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Curran fetched a whopping INR 18.5 crores, which made him the most expensive player in the history of the cash-rich league.

But Sehwag pointed out that PBKS have benefitted a lot whenever they have given the chance to 22-year-old youngster Prabhsimran Singh. Prabhsimran slammed his maiden ton yesterday against Delhi Capitals, helping the side to emerge victorious by 31 runs. After the match, Sehwag said there is nothing better for a franchise when a player is proving his worth after fetching a small amount.

Punjab Kings have benefitted from the chances that they’ve given to Prabhsimran. Now, he has to be consistent. And I think the PBKS will benefit a lot from such a player. When he came for the first time, he was bought for a lot of money (INR 4.8 crore). This time around, he fetched quite less (INR 60 lakh). But he proved his talent today,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.

He showed that he can hit those centuries Again, he was bought for INR 60 lakh, and if a player fetching that much scores hundreds and wins you a couple of games, there can be nothing better than that. You bought Sam Curran for 18.5 crores, what has he done?” Sehwag added.
