Mumbai Indians (IPL) skipper Rohit Sharma has been struggling in the ongoing 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). All he could collect were 184 runs from 10 matches at an average of 18.39 and a mere strike rate of 126.89 with a lone half-century.
The 36-year-old couldn’t open his account in MI’s last two games, getting out for ducks. During MI’s last match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he even registered the unwanted record of scoring the most number of ducks (16) in the history of IPL.
His struggling form has drawn criticism from all corners of the country however, former India opener Virender Sehwag sees no problem in Rohit’s batting technique but he thinks, the MI skipper is dealing with a mental block. Sehwag is hoping that Rohit can make up for previous matches’ lackluster performances once he gets going.
“Rohit Sharma is not battling with the bowlers but with himself. There’s a mental block,” Sehwag said on Star Sports’ Cricket Live. “There’s no problem with his batting technique. Some confusion is going on in his mind. But the day he gets going, we will make up for all the previous matches,” Sehwag added.
Will Rohit Sharma play big in a must-win game against RCB?
Today’s match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is a must-win for both sides as it will decide which team will reach the third position on the points table. Mumbai are currently languishing eighth on the points table. They have clinched five wins from 10 matches. RCB are placed sixth on the table, with five wins from their 10 matches.
