Whenever Pakistan played India in the past, in World Cup matches, the result came against their favor until the jinx was finally broken by Babar Azam-led side in the 2021 T20 World Cup in UAE. Pakistan, not only defeated India but outclassed them by 10 wickets. And that is why, the legendary Pakistan’s former pacer Waqar Younis believes Pakistan will emerge as winners if they play against India in the upcoming World Cup in India this year.

Younis said that during his playing days, there was not much pressure on the Pakistani players compared to the pressure the current players are dealing with due to both teams clashing against each other only once in a blue moon. “But then again, in World Cup, we use to choke against India,” Younis told Cricket Pakistan.

Nonetheless, as I said, players, these days are handling the pressure definitely better. These match-winners, which I mentioned earlier, they’ll win us the game,” he added.

These four players are Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Imam ul Haq. Younis believes these players have the ability to handle pressure very well and can single-handedly win matches for Pakistan.

Rizwan scored 79* off 55 balls while Babar scored 68* off 52 balls. This was the first time India suffered defeat from Pakistan in the World Cup event.
