Former Pakistan player Wasim Akram has dropped a stunning remark on MS Dhoni and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Dhoni is considered India’s best captain right now because, under him, India, as well as his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK), achieved monumental success.

Dhoni, 41, is still a force to reckon with when it comes to captaincy. His CSK have a record of reaching the most number of IPL Playoffs, not to forget CSK lifted the trophy four times (2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021).

As an Indian captain, he led the Men in Blue to two World Cups (the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup) and the 2013 Champions Trophy. He is also the oldest player to captain a side in IPL and has the most number of IPL matches under his belt (245).

At the same time, RCB, though they have often entertained the fans with their exceptional batting performances, haven’t tasted success yet. However, they reached the final three times. After RCB’s defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC), Wasim Akram stated that had MS Dhoni led the RCB, the franchise would have lifted the trophy three times.

“RCB would have won three IPL trophies by now if MS Dhoni was their captain. They have not won a single trophy until now. They have so much support. Also, they have the world’s top modern-era player Virat, but unfortunately, they have not won. If Dhoni was in RCB, he would have helped them win the title,” Akram told Sportskeeda.

Wakram then added that Dhoni has a habit of captaining a team and his chilled personality from the outside helps instill confidence in players. “He is not calm from inside, but he shows that he is calm. When players see that their captain is chilled, and keeps his hand on their shoulders, players become more confident. Dhoni is someone who knows to instill confidence in his players,” Akram added.
