En route to his ton, the 23-year-old smashed the six fours off-spinner and debutant Saud Shakeel, becoming the fifth player to achieve this in Test history. The other four players are- India’s Sandeep Patil, West Indies’ Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, and Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya. However, he has become the first Englishman to do so.

Harry Brook is the 4th batter to smash ton on Day 1
Harry Brook wasn’t the only centurion; openers Zack Crawley and Ben Duckett also slammed their respective tons and after them, Ollie Pope and Brook became the third and fourth centurions on the first day.
Their special knocks saw their team cross 506 runs at the end of Day 1 in just 75 overs, which also is the highest-ever score in Test cricket on the first day. England broke the 112-year-old record with their score on Day 1. Previously, it was held by Australia (494/6) against South Africa in 1910.
