Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan has once again grabbed the limelight for his misbehavior on the field. This happened during the Match 4 of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday (January 7).

Fortune Barishal was locking horns with Sylhet Strikers. During the 16th over of Barishal’s innings, Rejaur Rahman Raja bowled a slower bouncer and Shakib thought it had gone over his head but the umpire denied giving it a wide delivery. Shakib became furious, charged toward the umpire, and got involved in a heated altercation. Barshal’s skipper Mushfiqur Rahim intervened to calm them down.

A similar incident happened during the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) in 2021. His LBW appeal was turned down by the umpire so, furious he was then, he ended up kicking the stumps. Even he uprooted the stumps and smashed them on the grounds when the umpire called off play due to rain.

On the very next ball, he smashed a six over the mid-wicket region, and soon he completed his half-century off 26 balls. In the next over delivered by Thisara Parera, Shakib smashed biggies as 18 runs were made off just four balls.

Shakib ended up scoring 67 runs off 32 balls, including seven fours and four maximums. But he lost his wicket when Mashrafe Mortaza dismissed him on the first ball of the 20th over.

Talking about the match, Barishal, with the help of Shakib’s 67 put on 194/7 on the scoreboard. The target was a challenging one but Strikers’ Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 48 off 40, Towhid Hridoy’s 55 from 34 balls, and Zakir Hussain’s quickfire of 43 from 18 balls drove the team to the target and they won the match by six wickets.
