“You freak!”- Twitter reacts as Andre Russell smashes SIX 6s in six balls for Trinbago Knight Riders in 6ixty tournament

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell is renowed for his power-hitting. He displayed no mercy when he smashed six consecutive sixes for Trinbago Knight Riders against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 6ixty tournament on Saturday, August 26.

This happened in the 7th over off Dominic Drakes when Russell’s blade smacked the balls for massive sixes. He continued doing the same in the next over as the ball crossed the stadium from the two balls delivered by spinner Jos-Russ Jaggesar. Then in the third delivery, Russell hit a boundary before getting out in the same over. Notably, the batters don’t switch sides after the end of the over as per the rule of the tournament.

The power-hitter completed 72 runs in just 24 balls that included eight sixes and five boundaries to turn the table of the match, helping his team to victory. Trinbago ended up scoring a high 155/5 in 10 overs.

In response, Patriots put up a strong fight but eventually fell short by three runs. Andre Fletcher scored 33 runs off 15 balls while Sherfane Rutherford scored 50 runs off 15 balls. Drake then scored an unbeaten 33 runs off just 10 balls but their efforts had gone in vain as their side finished on 152/4 after their alloted 10 overs.

Also, Russell has some kind of a rift within the West Indies Cricket Board as he hasn’t played a single T20I match since ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Instead of representing the national team, he went on to play in The Hundred. Also, West Indies will need to play the Qualifiers before this year’s T20 World Cup. If Russell keeps playing like this, the board can’t ignore him.
