India was asked to bat first and with the help of skipper Rohit Sharma‘s 64 runs and Dinesh Karthik‘s quick cameo of 41 runs off 19 balls, India’s score reached a challenging 190/6. West Indies gave them a flying start with Kyle Mayers already starting to smash for boundaries. He scored 15 runs from six balls and other opener Shamarh Brooks scored 20 runs off 15 balls. In 1.2 overs, their score read 22 with the help of an aggressive Mayers.

In the second over, Mayers welcomed seamer Arshdeep Singh with a six and a four. It was Arshdeep’s second T20I and he looked under great pressure. In the third delivery, Arshdeep surprised Mayers by his sheer pace. Mayers smashed the ball but it went up in the air and Bhuvneshwar Kumar at mid-wicket caught it easily.

Arshdeep had the last laugh as he took the revenge and gave a death stare to Mayers before the latter walked back to the pavillion. Arshdeep stared at him with stretching both of his arms wide in celebration. The 23-year-old’s figures at the end of the match read 2/24 in his four overs. He dismissed Akeal Hosein for 11 in the 17th over as well.

Arshdeep Singh had earlier made his debut against England at Southampton where he finished the innings with the figures of 2/18.

He got a call from team India after impressive performance in the Indian Premier League while representing Punjab Kings. He came out as one of the best death over bowlers in the tournament.

Since India have lacked a consistent left-arm seamer, Arshdeep can get a chance to represent the team in the upcoming T20 World Cup. He can prove deadly alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.
