WATCH: Journalist asks Babar Azam an uncomfortable question related to IPL; media manager intervenes
Babar Azam
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was not in good form in Super 12s, but he smashed a half-century in the all-important semi-final against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2022. On the eve of the final against England, Babar encountered an uncomfortable question related to the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the press conference.
A journalist asked him a question related to IPL and its benefits in helping the Pakistan skipper and his team. “Talk about the benefits of playing the IPL, is that something you feel would have helped you and your team, and is that something you have any hope for in the future?“, the journalist asked Babar in the presser.
Watch the video below:
Babar felt so uncomfortable at the moment that he remained mum. He began to look at his team’s media manager, who then intervened by saying: “We are taking questions on the World Cup final at the moment.”

Babar Azam and Co. failed to repeat 1992
Despite the uncanny similarities between Pakistan’s ODI World Cup campaign in 1992 and their T20 World Cup campaign in 2022, Men in Green failed to repeat history, and Jos Buttler‘s England lifted the coveted cup for the second time in the T20 World Cup.
Buttler won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first. Everything worked according to plan, as English bowlers restricted Pakistan to just 137/8 in 20 overs. Sam Curran, who was later adjudged the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, scalped three wickets.
England would have chased down the small target comfortably like they did against India in the semi-final, but Pakistan’s bowling attack, led by Shaheen Afridi, only became a resistance. After Buttler’s dismissal, though Pakistan thought they got control of the momentum, Ben Stokes– the big match player- was still at the crease.
He took time settling and played dot balls, but accelerated in the last overs to help his side win the match by five wickets. Englishmen have now lifted the cup for the second time, the first was in 2010.
