As India is playing against England in the first T20I on July 7, the host didn’t have a good start to respond to India’s 198. India started by dismissing the dangerous Jos Buttler for a golden duck. This was done by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s inswinger.

The English skipper has been in great form in the limited-overs but couldn’t scare the opposition because Bhuvneshwar Kumar bamboozled his stumps. This happened on the first ball of the second over where Bhuvneshwar got the ball to swing impressively and Buttler looked clueless because certainly, he hadn’t anticipated the ball to swing that much, and in a flurry of moment, his stumps were disturbed. The ball hit the stumps after it brushed his pad and Buttler walked back to the Pavillion.

Meanwhile, in the match so far, India had won the toss and opted to bat first. The openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan couldn’t add much to the scoreboard. But Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav released an assault over the English bowlers and contributed a great deal of runs.

When Deepak got dismissed, Hardik Pandya entered to bat. He has been in great form since IPL 2022. He played with a calm and composed innings to bag his maiden T20I half-century.

Dinesh Karthik and Axar Patel then finished the innings well but couldn’t last longer. Eventually, India posted a target of 199 runs.

Hardik Pandya also became the second all-rounder for India to score a 50 and take three wickets in T20I after the legendary Yuvraj Singh. He dismissed Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, the destructive Liam Livingstone, and Sam Curran. That’s also makes him the first Indian to score a half-century and take four wickets in T20 matches.
