A bizarre incident happened during Sunday’s T20I between Australia and West Indies at the Adelaide Oval on February 11. Australia were denied a wicket because they did not appeal for a run out.
This happened in the penultimate over of the match after Alzarri Joseph sent the ball towards the cover and went for a single. Aussie skipper Mitchell Marsh collected the ball and threw it towards the non-striker’s end.
Bowler Spencer Johnson wasted no time as he quickly disturbed the bails. Replays showed Joseph was well short of the crease line, and it led to celebrations. However, on-field umpire Gerard Abood told the Aussies that Joseph could not be given out because they did not appeal. The players started arguing as some of them said they did appeal for the run out.
