In what will go down as one of the most thrilling T20 games of all time, India defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in their 2022 T20 World Cup opener courtesy of a masterclass by Virat Kohli. Given a target of 160 runs, Team India chased it down on the final ball of the match to secure 2 important points and avenge the heartbreaking loss from last year against their neighbors.
The Indian team required 48 runs in the last 3 overs and managed to close the gap till the last over. 16 runs were needed in the last over with Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya in the middle. Pandya was dismissed on the very first ball of the over and in came Dinesh Karthik, who was backed by the Indian team to finish the game.
Karthik tapped the ball for a single and gave the strike to Kohli who pounced on the first opportunity he got and brought the team closer to the finish line. When he gave the strike back to Karthik, only 2 runs were required off 2 balls.
Kohli couldn’t have made things any easier for Karthik. All he had to do was tap the ball anywhere at the mammoth MCG and run. But to his dismay, he chose to hit a sweep that didn’t connect and he ended up getting stumped by Mohammad Rizwan.

Cricket Twitter bashes Dinesh Karthik for his brain fade moment
Karthik was chosen in the Indian team over Rishabh Pant for his finishing skills and courtesy of a brain fade moment, he faltered in the strangest way possible when the team needed him to deliver. Cricket fans, especially Indian fans were very upset with his performance and slammed him on social media for not delivering when it mattered: despite it being the easiest of tasks.
