WATCH: David Warner jumps and roars in front of his ex-team management after DC beat SRH in low-scoring thriller
While Warner might be pumped up for some other reasons, it was indeed a special win for Delhi Capitals.
David Warner-led Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a thrilling win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. DC beat SRH by 7 runs in the latter’s backyard and the Delhi Capitals skipper was pumped up as ever. Warner was seen jumping in joy and roaring in front of the SRH management while celebrating his team’s win over his ex-team.
After Delhi Capitals posted 144/9 in their designated 20 overs while opting to bat first, it seemed like a walk in the park for SRH considering their heavy batting lineup. However, the Aiden Markram-led team bottled in a chase once again and failed to close the game.
SRH lost their first wicket in the form of Harry Brook who failed to live up to the expectations once again. Mayank Agarwal, however, tried to bail the team out of trouble but kept losing partners at the other end. Eventually, the opening batter was dismissed one shy of a half-century and it was more trouble for SRH from thereon.
Heinrich Klaasen and Washington Sundar did stitch a 41-run partnership but it was not enough. After Klaasen fell, it was on Sundar and Marco Jansen to finish things off but DC’s Mukesh Kumar was determined to take his home. The right-arm pacer nailed his yorkers and comfortably won it for DC. Meanwhile, Warner looked extremely happy with this win as he celebrated wildly.
A special win for Delhi Capitals!
While Warner might be pumped up for some other reasons, it was indeed a special win for Delhi Capitals. This was the first such instance in sixteen editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that Delhi Daredevils/Capitals have successfully defended a first-inning total under 150. Nevertheless, for any of these reasons, Warner was happy as he lauded his players at the post-match presentation.
“Love it here, it’s an amazing crowd, they always come here and support. Thanks for all the support. The game throws us challenges, for us, it’s great to get two points. Mukesh under pressure was amazing. Well done to him and the two spinners, they’ve been our rock. These two are experienced bowlers, they are never going to let you down,” said Warner.
