Guyana Amazon Warriors finally won their first Caribbean Premier League title after 11 seasons as they beat Trinbago Knight Riders. Sending TKR to bat first, GAW bowled out their opposition for only 94 runs. GAW chased it down in just 14 overs.
After winning their first title, captain Imran Tahir started speaking to the press. He was thanking the players, their families, and the analysts of the team. And then he thanked a person no one expected. He expressed his gratitude to Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin.
R. Ashwin had predicted the Guyana Amazon Warriors would win their first CPL title. They had reached 5 finals before, but lost all of them. Imrn Tahir said the team were more hungry than ever for the title due to their losses before.

Imran Tahir becomes the oldest captain to win a T20 League
After beating Trinbago Knight Riders in the finals of the 2023 Caribbean Premier League. On the day of the finals, he was 44 years, 181 days old. Despite being over 44 years old, he picked up 18 wickets in 12 matches.
Before Imran Tahir the oldest captain was Indian Legend, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. While being 42 years, 326 days old, he led the Chennai Super Kings to their 5th IPL title. He joined Rohit Sharma as the most successful IPL captain.
MS Dhoni was 40 years old when he won his 4th title in the 2020 IPL as well, while being 40 years, 100 days old. Mishbah-ul-Haq won the Pakistan Super League in 2016 with Islamabad United while being 41 years, 276 days old. The late Shane Warne had won the inaugural IPL while being 38 years and 262 days old.
