In a new video shared by cricket.com.au, they told Marnus Labuschagne that BazBall had been added to the Collins Dictionary.

In 2022, Brendon McCullum was appointed as the head coach of the England Test team. He told his batters to play without any fear and with an attacking intent. This saw the resurrection of the England Test team.

This new style of play was termed as “BazBall” by ESPNcricinfo journalist, Andrew Miller, naming it after McCullum. Since then this term has become more and more mainstream, with it now being added in the Collins Dictionary. 

The Collins Dictionary has defined BazBall as:

 A style of Test cricket in which the batting side attempts to gain the initiative by playing in a highly aggressive manner.

The word was also a contender for the “Word of the Year” award given by Collins Dictionary. 

In a new video shared by cricket.com.au, they told Marnus Labuschagne that BazBall had been added to the Collins Dictionary. His unfiltered opinion on the word being added was:

Oh man, that is garbage! I don’t know what that is, I don’t know what you're talking about.

Many fans found his reaction hilarious, with many taking digs at England. Fans also agreed with his views, disagreeing with the word being added to the Collins Dictionary

Fans can’t believe Bazball has been added to a dictionary 

Many fans could not believe the word Bazball made it into a dictionary. Netizens asked where this style of play was during the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, where England only won 1 match out of 6 played. They also poked fun at their recent outing in the 2023 Ashes as well, where England drew a home series to their rivals Australia.

The England Test team will now travel to India in January 2024 to compete for the Anthony de Mello trophy. They will play a 5 match test series on the rank turners of India, where players have struggled to bat. This could be the only country where England might not play aggressively.
