Notably, Pakistan have not yet won a match Down Under since 1995. They have lost 15 Test matches on the trot in Australia, which makes them the team with the most number of consecutive Test defeats in history.
Not just this, the Men in Green have not registered victory at the MCG since 1981. They have played 10 matches and could pull off only two wins, losing six, with two games ending in draws.
At stumps on Day 1, Australia posted 187 runs for the loss of three wickets. Usman Khawaja (42 off 101) and David Warner (38 off 83) opened the innings, stitching 98 runs between them. Steve Smith lost his wicket after scoring 26 runs from 75 balls.
