During a recent event, MS Dhoni answered a fan’s question about what he would like to do after his retirement from cricket. Captain Cool bid adieu to international cricket on August 15th, 2020, but he still plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and captains the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Despite his age and consistent criticism about his batting, no one can question his captaincy skills because he led CSK to five trophies in IPL 2023. CSK retained him for IPL 2024, which means the 42-year-old will still be playing in another season of the cash-rich league.
However, despite all his achievements in cricket, he will retire one day, from all forms of the game. So in the event when the fan asked him about his post-retirement plans, Dhoni said he would like to spend some time with the Indian Army.
I have never thought about it. I am still playing cricket. I am still playing in IPL. It will be very interesting to see what I end up doing after cricket. I think for sure, I want to spend a bit more time with the Army because, for the last few years, I have not been able to do that.Dhoni said in the viral video

MS Dhoni holds honorary rank in the Indian Army
MS Dhoni has often publicly spoken about his respect for the Indian Army. He, in fact, holds an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment (106 Para TA battalion).
Dhoni even served in Kashmir in 2019 and took the duties of patrolling and guarding the post for 15 days (from July 31- 15 August 2019). After the 2019 World Cup semifinal against New Zealand (which was also his last international match), Dhoni trained with the Parachute Regiment for more than a month.
