Netherlands players' WILD celebrations after UAE knocked out Namibia in a thriller
The Netherlands kept a close watch of the Group stage’s 10th match between UAE and Namibia. Namibia’s ouster would mean the Dutch side’s confirmed place in the Super 12 stage, and that’s the story of today’s matches.
The Netherlands had already bagged two wins but couldn’t win the third against the Asian champions Sri Lanka. The Lankan Lions became the first team among the Group teams to qualify for the Super 12 round, followed by the Netherlands after Namibia’s dramatic loss by seven runs to UAE. The Netherlands were quite ecstatic, and their wild celebrations’ viral videos are doing rounds on Twitter.

From the very start, the Netherlands found themselves in tight situations in their World Cup journey. They started by beating UAE by three wickets in a thriller, followed by a five-wicket win against Namibia. They almost defeated Sri Lanka, but they couldn’t; they were heavily relying on Namibia’s loss.
Notably, all the mentioned countries are placed in Group A. Netherlands will now face Bangladesh in their first Super 12 match on Monday [October 24] at the Blundstone Arena.

Sri Lanka vs Netherlands match recap

Kusal Mendis shone with the bat with his 79-run knock of 44 balls (with five fours and five sixes) to guide his team to 162/6 in 20 overs. Charith Asalanka also added a slow but still, vital 31 runs off 30 balls.
Lankan star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga scalped three wickets to guide his team to a 16-run victory despite Max O’Dowd’s 53-ball 71-run knock (with six fours and three sixes). The Lankans denied the 16 runs to the Dutch to win the match.
Meanwhile, in Group A’s last match between Namibia and UAE, Muhammad Waseem scored a match-winning 50 runs off 41 runs (with four and three sixes). Then skipper CP Rizwan’s unbeaten 43-run knock-off 29 balls, along with Basil Hameed’s 25 runs off 14 balls, ensured UAE put on a respectable 148/3 in 20 overs.
Apart from David Wiese‘s fighting knock, no Namibian batters could reach even the 20-run mark. Wiese would have become a hero for his team but lost his wicket in the penultimate over; his team had just eight more runs to win, but Wiese’s departure, from Namibia’s hopes for staying in the World Cup, also extinguished.
