In the last over, five runs were needed off six balls, and at the crease were Mark Wood and Jaydev Unadkat; both of them lost their wickets. RCB needed just one wicket to win when Harshal Patel attempted to Mankad Ravi Bishnoi but fumbled at first.
He crossed the crease and then dislodged the bails due to which the umpire turned down the appeal. On the last ball of the innings when LSG needed one run to win, keeper Dinesh Karthik failed to catch the ball and the visitors pulled off the dramatic thriller.
LSG top the leaderboard after this match
RCB were asked to bat first and with the help of three half-century knocks- Virat Kohli (61 off 44), Faf du Plessis (79* off 46), and Glenn Maxwell (59 off 29), RCB put on 212. Then the RCB bowlers scalped quick wickets and everyone must have been sniffing an easy victory.
But Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran played clutch innings, scoring 65 off 30 and 62 off 19, respectively. After their wickets, LSG fumbled, before they shocked the home team after that last-over drama to win the match by one wicket. And now, with three victories from four matches, LSG top the leaderboard with six points. Their only defeat came against the Chennai Super Kings so far.
