Rohit Sharma proud of the youngster after winning against in-form England
England were expected to face difficulties in India because of the raging turners. But they surprised all with their Bazball to win the first Test by 28 runs.
But despite India’s ordinary batting, except for Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, they came out victorious, thanks to superb bowling by Jasprit Bumrah. Jaiswal scored his first double-century in the first innings, while Gill scored his third Test century in the second innings.
Bumrah completed his six-wicket haul, as a result of which England were bowled out for 253 runs in the first innings after India’s 396. India then bowled out England for 292 after giving them a target of 399. Rohit Sharma said he was proud of the young squad who helped the team win against an in-form England.
Very, very proud of such a young squad in terms of the Test matches that they've played. To come up against a team like that, [who] won the first Test match, and then to come out and play like that for us, [it's] very, very positive.Sharma said after the match
The third Test will be played in Rajkot from February 15. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet revealed the squad for the third Test.
