Indian youngster Sarfaraz Khan smashed his third half-century of the series against England on Friday (March 8) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. En route to his fifty, the 26-year-old played a flamboyant shot off paceman Mark Wood that became one of the highlights of the game on Day 2.

In the 76th over, Khan hit Wood for two boundaries, the second of which was a Sachin Tendulkar-esque ramp shot. After the second boundary, Khan was hit by the ball but was safe from getting dismissed.

As the ball landed on the ground, Wood tried to run out the batter but missed. This was the time when the pacer, who seemed to be irritated after getting hit for the boundaries, said something to Khan but received no reaction from the latter.

Sarfaraz Khan fails to convince Rohit Sharma to take DRS

On Day 1 of the fifth Test, Sarfaraz Khan tried to convince captain Rohit Sharma to take DRS after opener Zak Crawley edged the ball to keeper Dhruv Jurel. But the ball lobbed towards Khan at the leg side and he quickly stopped the ball from touching the ground.

Khan made a loud appeal but couldn’t convince the captain. Jurel was unsure if the ball touched the bat or not. Later, ball tracking showed Crawley had indeed edged the ball.

The review promoted Khan to just smile, while Sharma laughed at the situation. Sharma also scored his ton (a 162-ball 103) on Day 2 before he got dismissed by English skipper Ben Stokes.
