“50 points to Slytherin”- Snake comes as an uninvited visitor during IND vs SA T20I, ground staff catch it and take it away

The second T20I between India and South Africa was halted for a while because of a snake. The snake was found on the field at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, October 2.
The incident happened at the end of India’s seventh innings. The commentators at that time said: “Play has been stopped because we have been told that there is a snake on the ground“. Four members of the ground staff immediately rushed towards the reptilian intruder to take it off the ground.
According to the PTI report, the snake “came out of nowhere from a small unnoticed pit to scare Wayne Parnell at the extra cover region. It then slithered into the square leg region.”

The drama didn’t end there. Apart from the unusual interruption, during South Africa’s innings, power failure halted the game for the second time. During the third over, the floodlights stopped suddenly and only after the restoration of power, which came back under 20 minutes, after which the match was able to continue.
Assam Cricket Association secretary Devajit Saikia blamed it on a “technical glitch” and told PTI: “We have three parties handling the power aspect- our 25-member team, a third (outsourced ) party and the state power department. It was perhaps a voltage problem, some technical glitch.”
Although floodlight failure is a common reason for a halted match, snake intrusion is rare. One time, during England versus Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2013, a cobra interrupted the match.
India vs South Africa match recap
Meanwhile, India posted a huge score of 237 that South Africa failed to chase despite their best efforts. 237 is also the fourth-highest total in the shortest format.
Suryakumar Yadav was the star of the match with his knock of 61 runs off 22 balls. The top-three batsmen’s contribution were also the reason behind the huge score. David Miller‘s ton didn’t help the Proteas to chase down the target and they eventually lost the three-match series by 2-0.
