The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is drawing to its end. On the 28th of May, Sunday, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will square off against the winner of the Qualifier 2. The second Qualifier will be held today between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
The IPL is considered a cricketing festival in India and many fans across India wait desperately to witness two months of scintillating clashes, dramas, and fierce rivalry. So the craze for watching the match at the stadium is also huge, especially in the playoffs and the final.
However, on Friday (May 26), some video emerged on the internet where fans could be seen gathering in huge numbers outside the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad a day before Qualifier 2, to collect the tickets for the qualifier and the final.
This created a stampede-like situation, with fans rushing toward the entrance to secure the tickets. The video of the incident has since gone viral with several fans slamming the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for ‘mismanagement’ which resulted in a chaotic scene. The BCCI has partnered with PayTm for online ticket sales but the spectators are required to get the physical copies at the Box Office, before the 26th and 28th of May, resulting in this commotion. The police had to intervene and keep the situation under control.

GT will lock horns with MI today
The defending champions, GT, after their 15-run loss against CSK, will face the winner of the Eliminator, MI. MI outclassed Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a huge 81 runs to reach Qualifier 2.
GT are the table-toppers in the league stage, with 10 wins from 14 matches, followed by CSK with eight wins from 14 matches. However, Rohit Sharma-led MI had rather a not-so-impressive start to the league but slowly, in the second half of the tournament, owing to their formidable batting performance, secured a spot in the top four with eight runs from 14 matches.
