Australia star batter Steve Smith is currently in England, playing for Sussex in County Championship ahead of the much-awaited World Test Championship Final between India and Australia. The two teams who finished in the top two positions of the WTC 2021-23 cycle, will square off at The Oval from 7-11 June.
Ahead of this much-anticipated clash, Smith is spending some quality time in England while playing for Sussex. Along with working on his batting, Smith looks in full flow while fielding in slips. The Sussex fielder’s stunning grab during his team’s game against Leicestershire is a testimony to that.
Smith pulled off a stunning one-handed grab while fielding in slips. As the batter tried to drive a full ball, the ball flew off the outside edge. Smith, who was at second slip, leapt to his right and plucked the ball inches off the ground. Smith was completely aerial when he made contact with the ball.

Australia are ready, are India?
While Steve Smith’s preparations for the WTC Final are in full swing, the same cannot be said about the Indian players. Barring Cheteshwar Pujara who is also in England playing for Sussex, majority of the players from the Indian WTC squad are busy with the Indian Premier League. Also, a handful of players are injured or are in rehabilitation.
KL Rahul has been already ruled out while the likes of Jaydev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav, and Shardul Thakur are yet to be declared fit. It will be interesting to see how India fares at The Oval.
