Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan will make his acting debut with the Tamil film Cobra. The film is scheduled to release on Wedneshday, August 31 on OTT platform Sony Liv.
Taking to Twitter, former India player Suresh Raina shared the trailer on his social media accounts to congratulate Pathan on his acting debut.
“So happy for you brother @IrfanPathan to watch you perform in #Cobra. This looks like a complete action-packed film, wishing you and the entire cast huge success on this. Can’t wait to watch this one,” wrote Raina on his Twitter.
Pathan quickly responded with: “Thank you mere bhai. Lots of love to you and family.”
Pathan will be seen playing the role of the antagonist in the film. The trailer has triggered huge expectations. The film has been directed by veteran Ajay Gnanamuthu. Pathan will also share the screen with KGF Srinidhi Shetty and South sensation actor Chiyaan Vikram. The music for Cobra has been composed by the legendary AR Rahman. The sci-fi thirller was originally scheduled to hit the theatres in mid-2020 but got postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pathan’s transition from a cricket to a commentator has been amazing and it will be interesting to watch how he performed in the film. In the trailer, he was seen playing the role of a French Interpol agent named Yaslan Yimlaz.

Irfan Pathan’s cricket career
Irfan Pathan has represented India in 29 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 24 T20Is. He has scalped 301 wickets across all formats. He also played a crucial role in India’s lifting its maiden ICC T20 World Cup trophy in its inaugural season.
Pathan is currently in UAE as part of the commentary system for Star Sports for Asia Cup 2022. Rohit Sharma‘s India will be looking forward to avenge the humiliating T20 World 2021 loss by defeating Babar Azam‘s Pakistan.
