WATCH: Virat Kohli gives Sourav Ganguly a stare, pair refuses to shake hands after RCB beats DC
As Kohli took a catch while fielding at long-on, the former RCB skipper celebrated it by staring at Ganguly who was sitting in the DC dugout in disdain.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 23 runs on Saturday as the two teams squared off at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB bowlers made up for the shabby batting from the team’s lower middle order as they dismissed nine of the ten DC batters. Meanwhile, amid all this, an unusual moment caught the attention of the fans. RCB’s Virat Kohli gave DC’s Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly a stare.
As Kohli took a catch while fielding at long-on, the former RCB skipper celebrated it by staring at Ganguly who was sitting in the DC dugout in disdain.
Later, after RCB won the game, the pair also refused to shake hands. Videos of the same are going viral on the internet. It can be seen that as the two team players shake hands as a post-match tradition, Ganguly and Kohli avoid each other. Ganguly, who was walking behind Ricky Ponting, seemed to sheepishly avoid shaking hands with the former RCB captain.

Why this cold war?
While most of the Indian cricket team fans will be able to get the context behind this cold war, for those unversed, things are not too fine between Kohli and Ganguly. It all began with Virat Kohli openly accusing Sourav Ganguly of lying about the former’s captaincy saga.
Notably, Ganguly had claimed that Kohli was asked by the BCCI to reconsider his decision to quit the T20I captaincy, Kohli has contradicted the then-BCCI president saying his decision was welcomed by the board officials.
Later, in a sting operation involving former BCCI Chief Selector, Chetan Sharma, it was revealed that Ganguly never liked Kohli and hence he favoured Rohit Sharma to take over India’s captaincy.
