The defending champions Chennai Super Kings have had a season to forget. Every Chennai fan is sulking at the moment because of the poor run of form the team is going through. Chennai have managed to win only two matches out of the age they have played this season. The last match was against the Punjab Kings at the Wankhede stadium on 25 April. Chennai ended up losing that match in spite of valiant effort from Ambati Rayudu who scored 78 runs off just 39 deliveries.

CSK managed to acquire the services of talented cricketer Rajvardhan Hangargekar after the IPL 2022 mega auction. The young Indian all rounder was pivotal in India’s record fifth Under-19 World Cup victory. Young Rajvardhan hasn’t got a chance yet to make his IPL debut and has been warming the bench since joining the men in yellow. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming had the explanation of not including the young Indian cricketer in any of the matches’ starting 11.

“You have to be very careful. I know he’s (Rajvardhan) performed at the Under-19 level but this is a step up,” Fleming said, as revealed by the CSK official site. “We’re very conscious of the skills that he needs to perform. We don’t wanna just throw him in and damage him. We want to make sure we realise the potential that he’s got.”

“He’s on an excellent program with us. He’s played some big games already. If the opportunity arises this year, we’ll put him in. Pace is one thing, how to use it and bowl on the big stage is very important. We’re not gonna mess around with a talent like him,” said the ex New Zealand captain.

He was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings in the 2022 mega auction for 1.5 crores which was way higher than his base price. He made his name by giving brilliant performances in the under 19 World Cup by acquiring four wickets in five games and even bowling at a speed of more than 140 km/h.

CSK face SRH on May 1 at Pune. Raj Vardhan will be awaiting his debut and we all are eager to see whether he will get the chance to feature in the match or not.
