Former Team India captain Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th T20I match when India will clash against Pakistan on Sunday, August 28 at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE in the much-awaited Asia Cup 2022. Ahead of the high-octane clash, South Africa legend AB de Villiers shared heartfelt congratulations to Kohli on his achieving this milestone.

In a video shared by Star Sports on their official Twitter handle, de Villiers stated that everyone was proud of Kohli.

De Villiers said: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my very good friend Virat Kohli on becoming the first Indian cricket player to play 100 matches across all three formats. What an amazing achievement Virat. We’re all very proud of you and all the very best in your 100th T20 international game. We’ll be watching you”.

De Villiers had shared the dressing room with Kohli while representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Both share a great bond of friendship and have respect for each other.

The “Mr 360” retired from all forms of cricket last year and didn’t take part in IPL 2022 for the first time (but promised to make a return next year).

Virat Kohli will join New Zealand legend Ross Taylor in the elite list of cricketers by becoming the second cricketer to have played 100 international matches across all formats when he’ll walk onto the field against Pakistan today.

Earlier this year, the 33-year-old played his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka while his 100th ODI came very soon when he played the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 against West Indies.

Kohli made his T20I debut in 2010 against Zimbabwe and has scored 3308 runs at an average of 50.12 so far.
