Dewald Brevis was born in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, on April 29, 2003. He is a South African cricketer. Because of his similarities to AB de Villiers on the field, he is also referred as ‘Baby AB.’ In April 2021, Northerns signed him ahead of the South African domestic cricket season of 2021–22. In the 2021–22 CSA Provincial T20 Knock-Out competitions, he made his Twenty20 debut for the South Africa Under-19s on October 8, 2021.

He was chosen to South Africa’s team for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2022, which is held in West Indies in November 2021. During the tournament, he scored two centuries and three fifties, and he was awarded Player of the Tournament after scoring 506 runs. The Mumbai Indians bought Brevis in the 2022 IPL auction in February 2022.

The five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians paid INR 3 crores for Dewald Brevis in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. On April 6, 2022, Brevis made his IPL debut against the Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 29 runs off 19 deliveries, including a few sixes and as many boundaries. On April 13, 2022, he made 49 runs off 25 balls in a league match between MI and PBKS, including four boundaries and five sixes. In Rahul Chahar’s ninth over, he smashed a boundary and four consecutive sixes. His father and mother’s names are Jack Devis and Yolanda Devis, respectively, and he has siblings too.
