Former India's head coach Ravi Shastri says that the ex-skipper is "overcooked" and needs a break from cricket.

According to the former head coach of Indian Men’s Cricket team Ravi Shastri, Virat Kohli needs to take a break from cricket to refocus and come back in form. After stepping down as Indian Captain Virat Kohli has not made a hundred in any format of the game. He’s had an equally bad start in the ongoing IPL, scoring only 119 runs in seven matches at an average of 19.83.

In july, the Indian Team will travel to England for a one-off Test  to complete the WTC23 series that was tragically abandoned last year, and Ravi Shastri who worked with Virat kohli during his period as India’s head coach, thinks the ex-captain is “overcooked” and deserves a break.

On 19 April, after Virat Kohli was dismissed on the first ball against Lucknow Super Giants, on the Star Sports show said “I am going straight to the main guy here. Virat Kohli is overcooked. If anyone needs a break, it’s him”.

He also said “Whether it’s two months or a month-and-a-half, whether its after the England tour or before England- he needs a break because he has got six-seven years of cricket left in him and you don’t want to lose that with a fried brain”.

Kevin Pietersen,  former English captain, shared the same sentiments,he said “the guy has had so much to deal with, from marriage to baby to media scrutiny and all on his personal life. He is the biggest star on the show,”.

He further added, “Virat Kohli needs to say cricket boots, for six months, I will see you later. Turn off social media, go and get re-energised. When the stadiums are full again, you guarantee him a spot in that side for the next 12, 24 or 36 months. Tell him ‘you’re our guy, we know you’ll deliver for us’.”
