The Bazball playing team England‘s monumental score in the fourth Ashes Test at Old Trafford in Manchester has surely led to its critic taking a u-turn and heaping praise on Ben Stokes and Company. They are in a commanding position after their 592 runs in their first innings and are on their way to stealing the victory from the visitors who have already lost four wickets for a mere 113 runs in their second innings, trailing by 162 runs.

Two days of games are left and England are desperate to bundle out Australia to tie the Test 2-2. Mark Wood’s three scalps on the third day proved to be the major reason behind Australia’s somewhat miserable condition.

I’d be very pleased if it rains,” Aussie spearhead Josh Hazlewood admitted (via Fox Sports). “It’s obviously forecasts, and forecasts can change all the time, but it would be great to lose a few overs- it would make our job a bit easier.”

On Day 4, rain has delayed the proceedings and the close watchers of the game are curious to know what exactly will happen if rain plays spoilsport. Well, rain is a blessing for Pat Cummins and Co. as it will help them avoid handing the hosts an easy win and instead draw the Test.

Australia are already leading by 2-1 in the five-match Ashes Test series. Defeat in this Test for them means a blockbuster fifth Test at The Oval is around the corner. Australia clinched the victory in the first two Tests by two wickets and 43 runs respectively but England made a strong comeback in Headingley to snatch the win by three wickets.

The reason why England could post almost 600 runs on the scoreboard was due to the batters playing some serious Bazball. It was Zak Crawley who, with 21 boundaries and three sixes, slammed 189 off just 182 balls. Later, Jonny Bairstow hammered his unbeaten 99 off 81 balls. Joe Root added 84 runs from 95 balls, while Moeel Ali and captain Ben Stokes scored 54 and 51 runs respectively.
