In match number 33 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022, cricket fans saw England play New Zealand at The Gabba in Queensland. Fan favorites collided as the England skipper won the toss and chose to bat first. This match would also decide who holds the top position in group 1.
England’s opening pair came to the crease and Alex Hales showed the intent of reviving his form as he leveled up his game by scoring 52 of 42. The first wicket for England fell in the 10th over on 81 as Hales fell victim to Mitchell Santner. A change in batting order was seen as David Malan didn’t come in at 3. Moeen Ali was promoted to boost up the run rate but he went quick as Ish Sodhi got him on a flighted delivery.
Liam Livingstone contributed a couple of runs as Buttler got run out in the 18th scoring 73 of 47. England posted a total of 179 for 6 as Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner were the only economical bowlers for the Kiwis. New Zealand lost Devon Convoy quickly with Fabian Allen following him towards the Pavilion. Glenn Phillips continued to impress with his quick knock of 62 of just 36 deliveries where he was accompanied by captain Kane Williamson for his run a ball 40.
After their wicket, the New Zealanders were unable to cope with the run rate. Due to them not having a deep batting order like England, the Kiwis lost the game with a margin of 20 runs as England used 7 bowlers to stop New Zealand from chasing the total.

Fans made mockery of Kane Williamson for his dropped catch of Joss Buttler, and due to him leaving the crease early being the nonstriker. If this wasn’t enough, fans also criticised the batsman for his knock against England. Here is what fans said on Twitter:
Well, the current state is that New Zealander hold their topmost position in the group followed by England who stepped over Australia to reach the second spot with the former only leading due to run rate. The tournament is bringing us enough chills to just leave everything and watch the World Cup as it gets better match by match.
