A total of five teams will be participating in the first edition, with all the matches to be played at the DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

WPL 2023 will start on March 4
Just a couple of days are left for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). On Saturday (March 4), cricket fans will see Mumbai Indians locking horns with Gujarat Titans in the curtain raiser at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
A total of five teams will be participating in the first edition, with all the matches to be played at the DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Out of these five, three franchises own a team in Men’s Indian Premier League. These WPL franchises are- Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz. The tournament will be wrapped up within one month (from March 4 to 26) which will see 20 matches and two playoffs.
India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Mumbai Indians. Today, Delhi Capitals announced that they will go with Australia’s star skipper Meg Lanning as a leader for their team. Australia’s dangerous opener Beth Mooney will guide the Gujarat Giants, while her compatriot Alyssa Healy will be leading the UP Warriorz. India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana will do the same job with the RCB.
