Yashasvi Jaiswal has been one of India’s hottest prospects, breaking out in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare trophy. He became India’s highest run-getter in the 2020 U-19 World Cup and four years later, the 3rd youngest Indian to score a double century in Test cricket.

While every other batter failed to score above 35, Jaiswal stuck himself in and kept a heavy price on his wicket. While the English bowlers tried hard to get the 22-year-old’s wicket, his defense was rarely beaten.

Coming in to open, he batted for 290 balls, bringing up his double century in 277 balls. Despite the defense, he didn’t stop himself from attacking the spinners, hitting 19 boundaries and seven sixes in his innings. He reached the iconic score by hitting a six and a four.

The closest England came to dismissing him was thanks to a beautiful delivery by James Anderson in the 99th over. The ball hit his pad and looked like it was going to hit the leg stump, but umpire Chris Gaffaney did not give it, believing the ball had pitched outside the leg stump. Ben Stokes reviewed it anyways, and it showed the ball missed the stumps thanks to bounce.

Jaiswal finally fell to veteran Anderson, after he stepped out and tried to hit him over extra-cover. Unfortunately he didn’t time it well and Jonny Bairstow took an easy catch. As he walked back to the pavilion being congratulated by the English and Indian players.

Fans laud Yashasvi Jaiswal, who stood up when everyone else failed

Fans heavily praised the young Yashasvi Jaiswal for his innings, impressed with his fearless batting. They praised him for stepping up while everyone around him failed and were impressed by the 22-year old announcing himself to the world.
