India’s stylish wicketkeeper-batter and Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant is celebrating his 24th birthday on October 4, 2021. After producing numerous match-winning performances across formats, the left-hander is widely regarded as the next big thing in the cricketing realm.

Born in 1997, Rishabh Pant began his international cricket journey back on February 1, 2017, in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match against England. In the following year, he played his maiden Test and One Day International (ODI) matches as well. However, his initial years didn’t turn up on the expected lines as he was immediately burdened with supernatural hopes and expectations which were once the copyrighted property of the veteran MS Dhoni.

He was later also dropped from the national side after the infamous 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand. The youngster faced massive criticism from experts and fans all over for his poor shot selection and careless batting technique. 

But the historic away Test series in Australia turned out to be the turning point in the eventful career of Rishabh Pant. He played some outstanding knocks under pressure, including the iconic 89* at the Gabba Test against a quality bowling attack on difficult batting tracks. 

The Delhi-based franchise also handed over the captaincy role to him after their side’s regular skipper, Shreyas Iyer, was ruled out from the tournament. The Roorkee-born grabbed this opportunity with both hands as he led DC from the front as they have already qualified for the playoffs. Pant has impressed all with his leadership skills and many people from this fraternity even believe that he has the calibre to become the captain of team India in near future.
