IND vs SL: Rohit Sharma imitates Faf du Plessis’ batting stance in the dressing room
Two of India’s modern-day batting greats- Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma- will be squaring off against Sri Lanka in the first Test, which will take place at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Rohit Sharma is leading the Indian team in Test cricket for the first time when Kohli makes his 100th appearance in the longest format.
India’s new Test captain was the centre of attention, but cameras captured moments in his dressing room as One showed him expressing disappointment over Kohli’s dismissal for 45, while the other was something truly unique, featuring him copying overseas batter Faf du Plessis‘ stance.
Faf du Plessis is mocked hilariously by Rohit Sharma
In the 43rd over of the opening game, Virat Kohli was going strong at 40 and the cameras turned to the dressing room, where the Hitman was seen mimicking the former South African captain Faf du Plessis’ batting stance in a hilarious fashion. The focus was shifted back to the field after Rohit tried to pull out a Faf in three separate instances. After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the Mumbai cricketer had a rough time in the first innings, putting on 29 runs and returning to the dressing room.
Lasith Embuldeniya trapped Kohli, just five runs short of the fifty he would have earned had he not been bounced by the ball. The wicketkeeper-batsman did an excellent job to keep the scoreboard ticking as he scored 96 runs.
The youngster was castled by Suranga Lakmal just as he began to look like he was going to reach triple figures. From then on, middle-order specialist Ravindra Jadeja took the initiative to guide India to their mammoth total and finished the day unbeaten on 45 as India ended Day 1 at 357/6.
