Virat Kohli has often paid the price due to his aggressive temperament on the field, the most infamous being his derogatory gesture to the rowdy Aussie crowd during Sydney Test back in 2012. And once, he got himself in hot water by meeting Anushka Sharma during a match in the 2015 Indian Premier League (IPL).

The match was between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match was halted due to rain and Kohli, who captained RCB, met Anushka Sharma in the stands.

Sharma was standing in the VIP compartment which was beside the players’ dressing room. By meeting the Bollywood actress, Kohli breached the anti-corruption code of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Know why Virat Kohli violated BCCI’s anti-corruption code

The code that Virat Kohli broke was about the minimum standards for the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA). The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ICSU) was handling PMOA and its then-general manager YP Singh handed the report about Kohli to the head of the unit, Ravi Sawani.

Whilst outside the PMOA, the Player, Player Support Personnel or Match Official must only communicate with those third parties with whom he/she has permission to communicate and only engage in such communications as are necessary for the completion of such purposes as have been approved.
Kohli broke the 5.1.2 rule

Sawani communicated to Kohli what the latter had violated and chose not to punish him. Kohli was left off only because the violation was considered a minor one.

And about the mentioned match, Delhi batted first and posted 187/5 on the back of JP Duminy’s and Quinton de Kock‘s half-centuries. RCB could not bat further than the second over as the match was called off due to rain.
