Team India has found gold in the form of seam all-rounder Shardul Thakur. Playing his second Test only against England at the Kennington Oval in London, Thakur has stunned the entire cricket fraternity with his all-rounder capabilities. The Maharashtra-born can be considered as the most successful batter for India at the Oval.

Shardul was the highest run-getter for India in the first innings as he slammed a crucial 36-ball 57 runs. Thakur had registered himself as the player to smash the fattest Test half-century on England soil. The exploits by the right-hander had resulted in India posting 191 runs on the scoreboard despite a collapse of their top and middle order. 

The 29-year-old continued his sensational form with the willow in the visitors’ second batting innings too. Showing his valiance and resilience with the willow, Shardul Thakur hammered 60 runs in 72 deliveries to steer India to a mammoth score of 466 runs.

The impressive performance delivered by Shardul has resulted in the cricket fanatics comparing him with all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Notably, Pandya was the first-choice all-rounder for India till 2019. However, the Mumbai Indians player has been sidelined due to the inability to bowl because of a back injury.

Despite, Hardik’s injury he has been backed by the Indian team management since he was the only fast all-rounder available for the county. However, the fans believe that it’s time for Virat Kohli & Men to look beyond Pandya and groom Thakur as the future of the Indian team. Many took to Twitter to express their views on the issue.

As far as the match is concerned, India posted a total of 367 runs for England to chase in the fourth innings. At the time of writing, England is reeling at 59 runs in 25 overs without any loss.
