Only limited overseas players are allowed in the IPL squad and the team have to maintain the majority of Indian cricketers. But then, they started talking about the fate of Sheldon Jackson.

It was about how Jackson would fit within the squad when other foreign players like Sam Billings and Aaron Finch were also there in the squad. What the fans didn’t like was that these ‘cricket experts’ were calling Sheldon Jackson a foreign player. The 35-year-old is from Bhavnagar, Gujarat and that he not foreign but an Indian player.

See how fans reacted to the discussion:

This could have been a minor event if a common person had said such things, but there was a prominent sports journalist, Rahul Rawat, sitting at the panel. When fans saw that he wasn’t correcting them about Jackson being an Indian, they got totally irritated. They started blaming them of not doing enough research and began calling them out on social media.
Taking to social media Rawat then explained that he was oblivious about Jackson being called a foreign player during the discussion.

A few eyes were raised pertaining to KKR’s wicket-keeping department. Dinesh Karthik, who used to take care of this, is not with the KKR now. So, this left the wicket-keeping slot vacant and they have to choose between Sam Billings and Sheldon Jackson and as starters, both of them are unlikely to be playing in the playing X|.

But KKR’s mentor David Hussey believes that the there is nothing wrong with the squad for the upcoming IPL.
“No, I think we’ve bought extremely well in the auction. We have Sheldon Jackson, who is a wonderful wicket-keeper and works hard for his game. He is also a wonderful striker of the cricket ball and dominates in the Ranji Trophy and he has been with the team for a few years now. I think he is going to light up the tournament.”

KKR was the runners-up in the last years’ IPL against Chennai Super Kings. This season will kick-start between these two teams on March 26 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
