Shoaib Malik has been one of Pakistan’s most important cricketers for almost two decades. Debuting in 1999, the all-rounder has played 400 matches for Pakistan in 22 years. He’s a batter who can play a variety of roles, while also possessing great temperament and technique.
Debuting as a 17-year old, Malik played his first ODI match in 1999. He didn’t fix his spot in the team till 2001, where he was used as a floater. He made his Test debut in the same year, but only played regularly five years after his debut.
He was made Pakistan captain in 2007, a month after they got knocked out of the group stages of the World Cup. In his tenure, he captained Pakistan to the 2007 T20 World Cup finals but was removed from captaincy two years later. He was a part of Pakistan’s 2009 T20 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy winning teams.
The cricketer has had three marriages, with two of them ending in divorces. He was first married to Ayesha Siddiqui, a teacher from Hyderabad. He later married Indian tennis star, Sania Mirza and then married actress Sana Javed.

Ayesha Siddiqui and Shoaib Malik divorced on 7th April, just 5 days before he married Sania Mirza. When he announced his wedding with Mirza, Ayesha and her family claimed he was already married to her. They further filed a FIR on the grounds of infidelity and abandonment.

Malik claimed he wasn’t married, but then revealed they did have a telephonic Nikah. Malik further added that he was catfished by her, by pretending to be another woman. While Malik claimed he never met her, Ayesha’s family claimed they had a wedding reception and they had even consummated the marriage. They further added that she had a miscarriage, which was then confirmed by a doctor in the family.
They finally divorced in 2010, just 5 days before Malik and Mirza’s wedding. The cricketer paid an alimony and had the charges dropped after the divorce.
