The World Test Championship (WTC) final which will take place next month is set to be one of the biggest matches in Indian cricket history. It marks the culmination of a first of its kind two-year culmination of several bilateral series which were awarded with points to choose the finalists. In the end, it was India and New Zealand who came out on top with some terrific series wins over the course of the two years.
The final will take place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton next month and is bound to be a cracker of a contest. As a matter of fact, the only series that India lost in the WTC was against New Zealand, meaning that they would have their task cut out. Further, the moving conditions of the English wickets are bound to be enjoyed by the Kiwi pacers who had the Indians in trouble at their home as well.

For the WTC final, the Indian players have arrived in Mumbai in order to undergo a period of hard quarantine after which they will leave for England in early June. Further, the women’s team also has a tour of England and hence, the two sides will travel together to the UK. For the hard quarantine period now, players have been arriving in Mumbai through charter flights arranged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or by road.
In that vein, two of India’s brightest young prospects Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant arrived and the two snapped a picture which was posted by the former on his Twitter handle. The two players will be expected feature in the playing XI for India in the WTC final and hence, will have a huge responsibility on their shoulders. Gill is favourite to open the innings along with Rohit Sharma while Pant is assured of a spot in the XI as the wicket-keeper.
