Raine first congratulated KKR and expressed his delight of watching Dhoni getting a 50. He also hoped that many 50s will coming from him this season. Raina, who could be seen doing the commentary asked fans about how his debut commentary was.

KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. CSK had a bad start at the beginning as the top batsmen failed to contribute runs. And then came the partnership of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. MS Dhoni, even though one of the most beloved cricketers of India, aged 40 now, has to face a lot speculation about his batting form. But he silenced all as everyone could watch a vintage Dhoni who hammered 7 fours, 1 six and scored a superb 50 off 38 balls and remained not out. At the end they scored a meagre 131/5.

Suresh Raina had been an integral part of CSK. He took part in the mega-auction but no one picked him up and went unsold. Even CSK fans were shocked to not see their ‘Chinna Thala’ Suresh Raina in the team. So, this season, Raina who is mostly remembered for wearing the yellow jersey could be seen not on the field but in the commentary box.

Raina had played 176 games for CSK and scored 4,687 runs at an average of 32.32 and claimed 25 wickets. But in total, he had played 200 innings and scored 5,528 runs at a strike rate of 136.73. During the pre-show of the IPL, Raina was asked about how he felt about the match, he said: “As I passed by the Wankhede Stadium while on my way to the show, I wished I could calmly put on the yellow jersey and enter the venue.”
