Throwback: When Chris Lynn took a scintillating catch to turn the tables

Australian opener Chris Lynn is renowned for his crisp hitting atop the order. Lynn has been around for some time now and has the reputation of taking on even the fiercest of bowlers without hesitation. While the Aussie is a ferocious hitter, he is a gun fielder too having pulled off some miraculous saves and catches on the international level.

One of his best efforts on the field came in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Seven years down the lane, Lynn held on to a screamer on the boundary line to essentially pull a win out of defeat’s jaw for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The 11th match of IPL 2014 saw him pull off the unbelievable effort at Sharjah.

KKR took on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the latter needed six runs to win off the final three balls. AB de Villiers took on Vinay Kumar as he tried to dispatch him for a maximum. But to his utter disbelief, Chris Lynn not only stopped a six but held on to the catch at midwicket.

The stunning catch sent de Villiers into the dugout giving KKR some breathing space. The Knights pounced on the opening as they secured a victory by just two runs. Lynn was adjudged the Player of the Match for the catch and his handy contribution of 45 which helped KKR finish with a flourish.
