In the 45th match of the IPL 2021, Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders were up against KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings. In an intense battle, it was PBKS who managed to keep their nerves calm and thus defeated PBKS by five wickets.
Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a fine start. However, after Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi added 72 runs for the second wicket, the middle order didn’t bat well for the team. Despite a quick fire knock of 31 runs from Nitish Rana towards the end, KKR could only manage to post 165 runs.
In response, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal gave Punjab Kings a rock solid start as the pair added 70 runs for the first wicket. The skipper stayed almost till the end and made sure that his team ends on the winning side. A blistering knock of 22 runs from Shahrukh Khan ensured that PBKS didn’t choke this time and sealed the match with a maximum.
With this, PBKS have climbed to the fifth spot in the points table of IPL 2021. On the other hand, KKR continue to stay at the fourth spot but won’t be able to achieve more than 14 points now.

Fans of Punjab seem quite happy after their win against Kolkata. They still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs and thus, are expressing their love on Twitter.
Interestingly, Mumbai fans are also quite cheerful as Kolkata have lost the match agains Punjab. Because of their loss, they also have quite a high chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
Kolkata Fans are trolling the third umpire badly for his poor decision. During the match, Rahul Tripathi took a stunner and caught KL Rahul. However, the third umpire believed that the ball had touched the ground and thus, gave his decision as not out. While it is a matter of debate, Kolkata fans are arguing that it was a clear wicket.
With this win, Punjab Kings have given them a golden opportunity as they are still in the race for the top 4. Will they be able to win the IPL trophy this year?
