India and England present one of the best cricketing battles especially in the purest format of the game. Apart from England vs India, there’s one more clash that has kept the cricket fans hooked to their television screens i.e Virat Kohli vs James Anderson. The battle between the Indian skipper and England pacer is an old one as the two players are always ready to have a go at each other.

Before the third Test match, there was a lot of hype surrounding the two veteran players. This time, Anderson managed to get an upper hand over Kohli as he dismissed the visiting captain at a score of seven. India are up against England in the third Test of the five-match series at the Headingley in Leeds.

Winning the toss, Kohli made the obvious choice of batting first. However, India succumbed to a woeful start in the first innings. Anderson appeared to be in a different mood as he cleared up KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara within five overs. The English seamer didn’t stop at two wickets as he also managed to catch the big fish, Virat Kohli as his third wicket of the day.

On the fifth ball of the 11th over, Kohli attempted to play a cover drive off James Anderson’s wobble-seam delivery. However, the ball took the thick outside edge and landed straight in the hands of the wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. As Buttler successfully completed the catch, the whole England team jumped in the joy. Anderson seemed to be ecstatic after picking the Indian skipper as he screamed loudly and sprinted faster than he did during his run-up.

With the wicket of Kohli, James Anderson became the only bowler alongside Australia’s  Nathan Lyon to dismiss the Delhi-born seven times, the most in the longest format of the game. With this dismissal, Virat Kohli’s dry run in the international circuit continues.
